We are heartbroken to hear the news of Tom Reffner’s passing. We were never able to see him compete on the track as one of the greatest short track drivers. We were, though, blessed to see his greatness off the track. A godly man who was humble and known for his trademark smile. A racing legend and a hero, that became our friend. We will forever treasure the time he took to tell us stories of the good ole days and the honor it was to be able to give him a call and ask for career advice or pointers on a track. May he never be forgotten and we will do our best in that! God bless Dee Dee and the Reffner family during this difficult time.

In my profession, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and interview hundreds and hundreds of stars and celebs over the years in all industries. Tom Reffner was a big one. As the past 17 years went on, I became closer and closer to Tom and his wife Dee Dee. He and long time friend and competitor, Marv Marzofka, made countless appearances on my radio and Tv shows, giving us history and knowledge of the sport of racing that made us sit back and learn and smile. I became a part of the Dick Trickle Memorial Project and because of Tom, my cohosts Kevin Ramsell, Paul Reichert, Bill Doc Niles and I will always be a part of the actual Dick Trickle Memorial which means the world to us. Announcing you in the starting lineup of the vintage feature at Oktoberfest Race weekend a couple years ago was simply bad assed! You will be missed by so many but the memories and your constant smile will always be with us. RIP Blue Knight #88.
