Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, recently took to social media to express his admiration for a group of students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Bombay. The students had successfully developed the world’s first foldable diamond frame e-bike, an innovation that Mahindra enthusiastically endorsed.
In his post, Mr Mahindra revealed that he had personally invested in the startup responsible for this groundbreaking invention. He further explained that the bike, named the Hornback X1, was not only 35% more efficient than other foldable bikes on the market but also offered stability at higher speeds. Unlike other foldable bikes, the Hornback X1 does not need to be lifted after being folded, making it a convenient choice for users.
Mahindra shared images of himself taking the Hornback X1 for a test ride around his office compound, demonstrating his personal support for the product.
“A bunch of IIT Bombay guys have made us proud again. They’ve created the first foldable diamond frame e-bike with full-size wheels in the world. That makes the bike not only 35% more efficient than other foldable bikes but it makes the bike stable at higher than medium speed. And it’s the only bike that doesn’t have to be lifted after folding. Took my very own HORNBACK X1 for a spin around the office compound! (Full disclosure: I have invested in their startup.),” Anand Mahindra wrote.
His post quickly garnered attention and praise from social media users, who commended both the IIT Bombay team for their innovative design and Mahindra for his continued support of startups and new technologies.
The Hornback X1 is currently available for purchase on popular online platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart. This innovative e-bike represents a significant step forward in the field of sustainable transportation, and its development has been made possible through the combined efforts of bright young minds and supportive investors like Anand Mahindra.
