In a tragic turn of events, 30-year-old Julio Sostre-Vargas, also known as “Big Pook,” was fatally shot in Milwaukee’s south side on Thursday, October 19. This horrific event not only resulted in the loss of a life but also left his 5-year-old son seriously injured.
Milwaukee Shooting: What Happened to Julio Sostre-Vargas and His Son?
On that fateful Thursday afternoon, at around 4:31 p.m., a call was made to the Milwaukee police about an incident on the 700 block of S. Layton Blvd. Upon arrival, the police found a man who had been shot multiple times while he was in his car. The victim was identified as Julio Sostre-Vargas, also known by his nickname “Pook The Barber.”
Julio was waiting at a red light on 700 S. Layton Blvd., a busy street in Milwaukee’s Southside, when he was shot. His 5-year-old son was also in the vehicle at the time of the shooting and suffered serious injuries.
Milwaukee Police Response
Despite the immediate response from the police and medical teams, Julio Sostre-Vargas succumbed to his injuries. He was rushed to Froedtert Hospital, where the medical staff pronounced him dead. His son, who was also seriously hurt in the incident, was taken to the hospital for treatment. The current condition of the child has not been released to the public yet.
